Traditional Japanese Tattoo Artist in California | Genkoku Mukade

THE BEGINNING

black and gray portrait of Hori Peppe mukade

Hello My Name is Genkoku Mukade (formerly Horipeppe Mukade.) . I was born and raised in Mexico City. My first encounter with tattooing happened at the age of 10 during a family bus trip.

I recall, "It was magical and intriguing to see that dragon made in a black & gray style on the man's arm who was sitting next to me.

Without knowing it at the time, tattoos would captivate me forever. Years later, after dropping out of college and playing drums in several rock bands, I had another encounter with tattooing.

This time, it was deeper than before, reminiscent of my childhood fascination. I became so fascinated by it that I surrendered myself to the pleasure of tattooing and being tattooed.

ANNOUNCEMENT

I’m beginning a new step in my artistic path.

From now on, I will also be signing my work as Genkoku Mukade ( Black Mukade) 玄刻ムカデ

This name feels closer to the spirit of what I do.

玄 carries depth, mystery, and a profound blackness.

刻 means to carve, engrave, and leave a permanent mark.

For me, this reflects tattooing more truthfully.

Zero One Ink remains the name of my tattoo shop.

Genkoku Mukade 玄刻ムカデ becomes the artist name I carry in my work and prints.

Same hands. Same commitment. Same Musotoku path.

Just a name that speaks more clearly about the work.
